Taken from an incomplete sketch, which is believed to be an early idea for embroidery, this soothing and unassuming design is attributed to William Morris. The Morris & Co. studio carefully evolved the original artwork into a complete all-over repeat, honouring Morris’s intent while finishing the composition. Where Morris had marked out stitches for embroidery, the design team retained this delicate linework, preserving the charm and honesty of the original drawing. Unique and authentic, just like Morris. Printed on a cotton-linen mix.
